Hailey & Owen’s Downtown Monterey Engagement Session - Carmel Photographer

Hailey sent me the coolest inquiry because she mentioned FILM! I, like many other photographers, geek out when anyone other than a photographer, mentions film. So naturally, for their engagement session, I would shoot a mini super 8 film. Hailey and Owen are getting married in Big Sur, so she thought it would be a good idea to go against the grain and do an urban setting for their engagement photos. I am a huge fan of keeping on your toes and always switching it up. So what we did was head to downtown Monterey and Fisherman’s Wharf . Being so used to shooting in a natural environment, it was awesome to exercise some new creative muscles! Now, every time I pass through Monterey I look at it completely differently and constantly taking mental notes for cool spots to take future couples (fingers crossed!)

I also brought them to THE BEST clam chowder spot in the world. Yes, I said it. THE WORLD. Old Fisherman’s Grotto. It’s almost like a past-time being from this area and eating the clam chowder here. After Hailey and Owen had, not surprising to say, they were blown away by it. I’m just here to share the local gems of this area. Even if the wharf is a really tourist-y area, the clam chowder at this spot CAN’T be beat. Honestly, it just can’t.

Anyway, enough with bragging about the best clam chowder in the world. On to the photos!… and super 8mm film!
