At the time of writing this, I am purely inspired by urban environments and all the different opportunities that they offer when it comes to untraditional wedding photography. However, there will always be something about Big Sur that will always have my heart. And to be quite honest its more of the feeling of photographing in Big Sur as oppose to the photographs that I make in Big Sur. I love the cold sweat from running around near the ocean or in misty redwoods. I love the unpredictable-ness (is that even a word?) of the clouds and the weather overall. Keeps you on your toes as a photographer. I love the very small window of time that it’s warm during sunset and the way the light breeze feels while you’re getting drenched with orange glow. I love the way the road feels when you’re driving down Highway 1 on the way to a session or wedding. It’s really meditative and calming.

I honestly could go on and on about all the small things about Big Sur and why it keeps me grounded.

So with all that being said, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph K + H wedding in Big Sur and it just felt good to be back. Up until then I had been traveling all around Monterey and Santa Cruz county photographing weddings, so to be back on the coast felt so reinvigorating.

K + H are probably some of the most easy going people on earth, in true Santa Cruz local fashion. Encompassed with friends and family and soaking in every moment, not being stressed about how the day will turn out. I loved the energy that wedding party gave off. And to top it off, they partied hard on the dance floor and had the most epic bubble send off. Yes, BUBBLE send off. Check out the photos below and be sure to stick around for the film photos.
