Secret Garden Wedding in Phoenix, AZ on Super 8mm

Traveling for weddings is extremely fun as a photographer. Let’s make that extremely clear. But traveling for wedding work comes with its own challenges despite how “fun” this job can be at times. Set aside all the logistical things you need to figure out just to get to the wedding destination, shooting in a completely new location is fun and scary. You definitely could show up a couple hours before or even the day before and scout and get a feel of the venue, but nothing will prepare you adequately until you actually start shooting.

ARIZONA SUPER 8MM WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER

Shooting super 8mm for couples is very exciting, especially since the concentration of my work is mostly photography. It forces me to use a completely different side of my mind and make myself consider movement, as oppose to stillness. And then doing all that within the setting of a wedding really gets my adrenaline going and reminds me of why I started documenting couples on their wedding day in the first place. EXCITEMENT.

What’s up with this outdated form of video and why do I love it so much? I think I fell in love with film and super 8mm simply because it has no bells and whistles. I feel like it truly is an honest depiction of a wedding day because nothing much has been edited. However, when you watch a super 8mm film, there’s so much feeling, even without all the modern intricacies. It’s my opinion, but I wholehearted feel like anything analog: film, super 8mm, vinyl, etc provide so much feeling and connection because they’re imperfect.

Secret Garden in Phoenix is a beautiful oasis of a wedding venue. Manicured and landscaped garden with so much open space to host any size guest lists, it really checks off so many boxes for a majority of couples. I can’t wait to be invited back to Phoenix or any part of Arizona to be a part of another wedding!
